Since 01-01-2006 free access is normal practice in Holland and physiotherapists have been educated to assess and treat patients without a doctors referral.

Carreer
Before training as a physiotherapist I worked as a dental assistant ( 1967- 1968 ), a medical assistant ( 1968-1970), governess in a boarding school (1970-1972) and during my study to become a physiotherapist I worked as a medical secretary.
From 1977-1984   I worked as a physiotherapist in the first echelon in a small private practice 1977-1978, in a Clinic of a Geriatric Hospital and the Outpatient Clinic of a Hospital 1978-1980. From 1980-1984 I worked in a Physiotherapy Clinic.
In 1984 (  2006 ) I started my own private practice in Holland working with children and adults.
For a number of years also helping the mentally handicapped patients at a nearby Centre.
My work also included working closely with the Plexus Brachialis Teams of the Universities of Amsterdam and Leiden to provide best possible treatment for children with plexus brachialis lesions.
As part of my education to become a paediatric physiotherapist I worked part-time at the Don Bosco Schule- centre for handicapped children in Germany (1995-1996). 


Extra scolastic activities
Between 1979-1985 I was a teacher at the Bugnet Post Curriculum Course. ( Posture Resistance Therapy  actualized by mrs E.v.d. Meulen)
During more than 10 years I have corrected and translated (Dutch into English) the abstracts of all articles in the Dutch Journal for Physiotherapy.
I  assisted  various people by translating their articles for different medical journals.
During 1976-1995 I organised physical trainings classes for people with medical problems.
For many years I volunteered and assisted weekend swimming classes for mental and physically handicapped people.
Together with several sports-physicians and sports-therapists we setup and managed the SMA  (Sport Medical Advice centre) in Utrecht and later I helped setup and manage the SMA in Tiel 1986-1996


Current occupation:
When I am in Spain I am available as a paediatric consultant at the Centro Medico Mar y Salud in Torrox/ El Morche. www.centromarysalud.com
